T
he goal in holistic/integrative medicine is to understand the entire animal and what may be causing underlying imbalance even if the imbalance is not showing up yet in the physical form (for example lack of abnormalities in blood work but known kidney issues). In contrast, traditional allopathic medicine waits for a disease pattern to appear (such as increased kidney values on blood work or the appearance of a tumor) then attempts to correct, remove, or suppress the symptoms of the disease usually without investigating or addressing the underlying imbalance, which led to the disease in the first place.
