Veterinary Homeopathy

Picture
Are you searching for an alternative method to treat your animal's ailments without the use of antibiotics, anti-fungals, steroids,  non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and all the others? Or maybe you're seeking something in addition to those medications that can enhance recovery and give full attention to supporting the whole body? If so, then homeopathy is one avenue worth exploring. Dr. Fenton prescribes homeopathic formulas that have  been known to improve the healing process and  recovery time. Homeopathics offer the potential for the patient to return to a better state of health than before they became ill. This is because homeopathy is designed to work with  the body to promote healing and remove any blockages in that process.

Dr.  Fenton's homeopathic treatments are tailored to the individual and his or her  specific needs versus the standard paradigm of traditional medicine which  focuses on attacking an organ or organs labeled with a disease. Treating a disease keeps us trapped in a "box"  and limited to what other  opportunities health care may provide.Treating the patient allows us  freedom to see the animal's true picture and apply therapy to each individual  area that is seeking help.

How does homeopathy work?

In the simplest of explanations, homeopathy works by the  "law of similars." When we use homeopathy, we expose the body to a very dilute  prepared substance. That specific substance in the body in normal amounts would actually cause the disease we are trying to treat. But when we dilute these homeopathic  remedies to such infinitesimal dilutions, the body actually has the ability to  work with it in a non-harming manner and mount the proper physiological response. This response builds the greater defenses and supports the body's inherent wisdom and ability to heal itself.

A great example of how our body inherently protects and heals itself on a daily basis is when we inhale something that serves as a  foreign invader (an allergen, bacterial, viral particle etc.) The body tries to capture the invader by producing mucus around it and expelling it from the  body. We can sneeze, cough, clear our throat and blow our nose to help purge that foreign item. Homeopathy helps support the body's ability to go  through all those motions, but it does so "behind the scenes." Examples of this are by giving functional support to the specialized cells lining the  entire respiratory tract, increasing mucus production to help trap foreign particles, serving as an anti-inflammatory, helping modulate pain and purging the invader.

Instead of masking or suppressing the symptoms, it helps support the body's  natural mechanism to overcome disease when it has become exhausted, depleted of proper nutritional support,  experiencing blocks in the immune system or has begun failing in other normal biological processes.

How long does it take to  work?

Every individual is going to respond differently. Some may  see results right away and others can take days to weeks depending on the  severity and chronicity of the disease. Often times treatments change and have  to be adapted to the animal as he or she begins shifting towards health.  Different symptoms (increased sleeping, increase in thirst, sweating, panting,  increased defecation etc.) may surface as healing begins  and those will need to  be addressed appropriately when they present themselves.  These changes are a  reflection of the body processing the new help its  receiving. They should be  welcomed as it is the body's way of processing and purging that which has been causing the problems all along. True
healing occurs in layers. Removal of  toxins, blockages, dysbiosis and dysfunction allows clearance of dis-ease and  return of health in the originally impaired organs. With homeopathic support,  those organs slowly become re-equipped with the ability to communicate and  function effectively with all other organ systems in the body.  Remember, all body systems are connected. If one fails, the others suffer too.

What kind of problems can homeopathy help?

Almost anything. Name the symptom or condition and a remedy or specialized formula can be created to help relieve and support the body of the problem that is causing the symptoms.  Remember, we try to address the root of the problem not just mask the symptoms!

Please be advised that in some cases, it is critical to pair treatment of traditional medicine with homeopathy since stand alone therapy of just homeopathy may be unable to help bring full recovery. There are many times when full recovery is not obtainable no matter what is tried, unfortunately. Preventative medicine is best medicine. And it is always wise to begin treatment of any problem at the beginning of the symptoms. This is also the time when homeopathy can work most effectively. Once the body is far along in its disease state, it is harder to get it back to health. Have close relationships with your pets so that you can detect the subtle signs that indicate something may be "off."  Your attentiveness and special bond can potentially save your animals life.
